About Alicia
A portrait photographer who keeps it real.
If you’ve made it this far, you’ve probably seen the basics: I’m a portrait photographer, I keep things relaxed, and I genuinely want you to enjoy the experience—not just the photos.
So here’s a bit more.
What I Do (And Why I Love It)
I’ve been photographing people (and their pets) for over a decade, specializing in portraits that feel natural, honest, and unforced. No over-editing. No awkward energy. Just real people looking like their best, most confident selves—even if they swore they’re “not photogenic.”
What I love most is showing people what the people who love them already see—strength, connection, softness, fire. So many of us (especially women, especially moms) don’t see ourselves the way our family and friends do. My goal is to change that—to create images that feel not just flattering, but true.
It’s not about being perfect—it’s about being comfortable, well-lit, and maybe even having a little fun in the process. If you’ve never liked a photo of yourself, I’m especially glad you’re here.
I Take This Seriously (So You Don’t Have To)
I studied photography in the Commercial Photography program at Algonquin College and later returned to teach in the program. That formal training shaped everything about how I work: with intention, consistency, and a creative eye that doesn’t rely on guesswork. You won’t find me winging it—I bring experience and direction to every session so you can just show up and feel taken care of.
From Vet Clinics to Viewfinders
Before photography, I worked as a veterinary assistant and animal cruelty officer—which means I’ve had hands-on experience with animals of all kinds. I’m passionate about animal care, know how to work with different temperaments, and can usually guess your dog’s breed mix before you finish saying “he’s a rescue.” I love talking dog behaviour and bring calm, confident energy to every session with pets. Working with animals (and the people who love them) is still one of my favourite parts of what I do.
Behind the Lens
I’m married to Brent—we met years ago while working at the old Tommy & Lefebvre sports store in Ottawa—and we’ve been building a full, often hockey-filled life together ever since. We have two boys, Owen and Emery, and our dog Poppy (aka Poptart), who regularly steals the spotlight.
These days, most of our free time is spent at the rink, and honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way. The hockey world has brought us lifelong friends and a community that feels like family. I love that my work keeps me right in the heart of it.

Animals Rescued
Before photography, I was on the front lines—now I just get the cuddles.
